Putting My Passion to Work
Our foods are making us sick. The prevalence of ultra-processed ingredients, harmful chemicals, and artificial additives in our diet is contributing to a growing epidemic of chronic diseases. It's time to take a stand for healthier food and a healthier future.
Most Americans, whether they realize it or not, consume ultra-processed foods every single day. These foods now make up as much as 60% of our diet, and the consequences are alarming. Ultra-processed foods have been linked to a range of serious health issues, including obesity, diabetes, heart disease, depression, dementia, and even an increased risk of early death.
One in 25 children in the United States is diagnosed with autism, highlighting the urgent need for better awareness, support, and resources for families affected by this condition. We need to find out what is causing our children to suffer from these illnesses. With the rise in chronic conditions like autism, obesity, and diabetes, it's crucial that we investigate the factors—especially in our food and environment—that are contributing to this alarming trend. Our children's health must be our top priority.
As someone who has lived with an autoimmune disease that causes chronic pain, I know firsthand how crucial it is to be mindful of what we put into our bodies. Unfortunately, too many foods on our shelves are loaded with harmful chemicals, preservatives, and artificial colors that can worsen health conditions and contribute to new ones.
I am committed to introducing legislation that will:
Promote Healthier Ingredients: Encourage the use of natural, wholesome ingredients in our food by supporting farmers and manufacturers who prioritize health-conscious production.
I intend to introduce legislation aimed at safeguarding our children’s health by taking a closer look at the vaccines they receive and the overall safety of these practices. This bill will:
Examine Vaccine Efficacy and Safety: Establish a comprehensive review of the efficacy and safety of vaccines administered to children, ensuring that they meet the highest standards of care and protection.
Investigate the Causes of Autism-Related Injuries: Fund and support rigorous research to identify potential causes of autism and related conditions, with a focus on understanding any environmental or medical factors contributing to these diagnoses.
Ensure Safe Practices in Livestock: Prohibit the use of experimental drugs in livestock that may enter our food supply, safeguarding both our health and the health of future generations.
This bill is about taking proactive steps to ensure that we are doing everything in our power to protect the well-being of our children and our communities.
